Back to School in Seguin

1. A New School Year

A new school year began in Haiti on September 14. This year, Hope for Kids Haiti is providing full educational scholarships for 50 children. Eighteen of these children have lost one or both parents.

2. Families Who Long for School

At a recent meeting with families, many parents shared how deeply they long for their children to attend school but cannot afford the associated costs. For families already struggling to provide enough food, education can remain out of reach unless someone comes alongside them.

In response, Hope for Kids Haiti is helping additional children attend school by providing essential supplies, including notebooks, textbooks and school uniforms.

3. Nutritious Meals and Loving Care

Our volunteers continue to organize the feeding programme so children can receive nutritious meals along with loving encouragement. We have also been able to provide cooked meals for some adults in the community.

4. Grateful for Relative Calm

In August, dozens of people were killed when gangs attacked the Kenscoff area, approximately 100 kilometres from Seguin. Thankfully, the region around Seguin has remained peaceful.

No one knows what the coming days may bring, but we are grateful that schools have reopened and that families can continue with daily life.
